Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the RestIQ app ("Application") for mobile devices, created by Sami Juma ("Service Provider") and offered as a Freemium service. The Application is provided "AS IS."
RestIQ is designed to be privacy-respecting. In short: your workout data is stored on your device, RestIQ has no user accounts, and the Service Provider does not collect your name, email address, or location. The sections below explain this in full.
Information Stored on Your Device
The data you create while using RestIQ is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to or stored by the Service Provider. This includes:
- Your workout history (such as set and rest durations, timestamps, and any notes you add)
- Your rest presets and Rest Cycles
- Your settings and preferences (such as sound, vibration, and Live Activity options)
- Your subscription (Pro) status
You can delete this data at any time by deleting the relevant entries within the Application or by uninstalling the Application.
Information Processed to Provide Features
To make certain features work, limited information is processed by third-party services on your behalf:
- Live Activities (Dynamic Island / Lock Screen). When a rest timer's Live Activity is active and the Application is in the background, the Application sends a Live Activity push token and the current timer state (such as the set number and remaining rest time) to the Service Provider's relay server (hosted on Cloudflare), which forwards it to the Apple Push Notification service so your Live Activity stays up to date. This information is used only to update your Live Activity and is not used to identify you. You can stop this entirely by turning off Live Activities in the Application's Settings, or by uninstalling the Application.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Service Provider does not receive or store your payment details and receives only Apple's standard anonymized, aggregated transaction and sales reports.
- Technical request data. As is standard for internet services, the Service Provider's hosting and relay provider (Cloudflare) and Apple may process technical information such as IP addresses as part of delivering the service and maintaining its security. The Service Provider does not use this information to build a profile of you.
Information the Application Does Not Collect
- The Application does not require you to create an account and does not collect your name or email address through the app.
- The Application does not collect precise location information.
- The Application does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data.
- The Service Provider does not sell your information, and the Application does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Legal Bases for Processing (EU/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the Service Provider relies on the following legal bases under the GDPR for the limited processing described above:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the core functionality you have requested, including delivering Live Activity updates and completing your purchase.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and maintain the Application and its supporting services (for example, technical and security logging by the hosting and relay provider), provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation — where the Service Provider is required to process or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
Third-Party Services
The Application relies on the following third parties to function: Apple (App Store purchases and the Apple Push Notification service) and Cloudflare (hosting of the Live Activity relay). Each handles data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
The Service Provider may disclose information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
- when the Service Provider believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a lawful government request; or
- to trusted service providers who work on the Service Provider's behalf, do not have independent use of the information, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this policy.
International Data Transfers
If you access the Application from outside the United States, the third-party services it relies on (Apple and Cloudflare) may process the limited information described in this policy on servers located in the United States or other countries, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. These providers maintain their own safeguards for such transfers (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).
Data Retention
Workout data and settings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the Application. The data sent to update Live Activities is transient and used only to deliver the update. If you have any questions about data the Service Provider may process, or would like to make a request, contact support@tryrestiq.com and the Service Provider will respond within a reasonable time.
Your Choices
You can stop all processing of information by the Application by uninstalling it, using the standard uninstall process available on your device or through the App Store. You can also turn off Live Activities in the Application's Settings to stop the Live Activity relay described above.
Your Privacy Rights
Because most of your data is stored only on your device, you can exercise many rights directly: you can view, change, or delete your workout data, presets, and settings within the Application at any time, and uninstalling the Application removes that data from your device.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the following rights regarding personal information the Service Provider processes: the right to access it, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and — where processing is based on consent — to withdraw that consent. To make any of these requests, contact support@tryrestiq.com.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
Your California privacy rights. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. The Service Provider does not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA) and does not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, contact the email address above.
Children
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from, or market to, children under the age of 13, and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personal information to the Service Provider through the Application, please contact support@tryrestiq.com so that the necessary action can be taken. You must be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personal information in your country (in some countries a parent or guardian may do so on your behalf).
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information and maintains reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the limited information it processes.

Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the revised policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically, as continued use of the Application is deemed approval of all changes.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, now and as amended.
